Want more dream clients -- without advertising?
If so, this may be the most important message you read all year.
Here's the $1.5-billion story.
Ben Feldman was the greatest salesman who ever lived.
For 52 years, from 1941 to 1993, he sold life insurance for New York Life.
Ben was short, chubby, and balding. He spoke with a lisp. And his territory was mostly East Liverpool, Ohio, a small town of only 20,000 people.
Yet, his lifetime sales exceeded $1.5 billion -- more than many COMPANIES -- including $20 million in ONE DAY.
He become a multi-millionaire working for somebody else, selling the hardest thing on earth to sell, life insurance.
So, if you *own* a business and you *don't* sell life insurance, you're already in a better position to succeed than Ben.
How did he do it?
Lots of long hours and 7-day weeks, to be sure.
But one secret that's glossed over in both of the books I've read about Ben and nearly all the articles written about him is this: He relentlessly grew the lifetime total value (LTV) of his clients.
You see, Ben sold to only about 3,000 people in 52 years. That's just over one new client a week. Not a lot.
When you divide $1.5 billion lifetime sales by 3,000 buyers, you get $500,000 LTV per client. But that $500,000 LTV invariably started small.
Example: The first $1-million policy he sold was to his first client, who originally bought only $5,000 of coverage. Later, he grew another client from $2,000 to $16,000,000. And on, and on ...
When asked, "Where do you find the best prospects?" Ben replied, "Among my clients. Why? Because my clients are prospects for another policy -- for bigger coverage .... As a rule, you can't go out from scratch and write a policy for a million dollars. There's something called 'confidence' -- the person has to buy a little piece of you."
So there you have it.
Ben's $1.5-billion "secret" is simple. To find your best new clients ... take care of your old clients.
Keep them happy. Grow with them. And they will grow your business.
